The difference
between
a thing made by woman
and
a thing found by woman
is seen
in the impact
of neglect.

A thing made by woman,
a relationship,
a child,
that unfinished project,
thrives with devoted attention.

A thing found by woman,
a forest,
a stone,
that driftwood on the beach,
the cannot-be-finished,
thrives with reverent neglect.

When you see this,
the question asked before,
What do I do to make this better?
grows,
quite on its own,
into
Did I create this or did I find this?

and right now
Does it warrant my close attention
or my holy neglect?

One begins a quest
of self discovery
as an individual.
The other a discovery
of the whole.
